This downtown Baton Rouge engagement session was extra special because the bride-to-be just happens to be my childhood best friend. Seeing her name pop up in my inquiry form had me immediately smiling (and maybe a little teary). Life’s wild in the best way: her fiancé is now in med school with my current best friend. Full-circle magic.

She and her fiancé are planning their future in Baton Rouge after he wraps up medical school, so it only made sense to do their engagement photos here in the city they’re about to call home. They wanted something clean and modern, so we started at my favorite downtown parking garage—yes, really. It’s open, simple, and so stunning at golden hour. That sunset light did not play around.

From there, we walked through the city and found the cutest little green space that gave us just enough nature to balance out the urban vibe. These two were so at ease in front of the camera—it shows. Their proposal was a whole beautiful event (fountain, rose petals, friends—the works!), and you can tell they’re no strangers to big, meaningful moments.

We wrapped things up with a spontaneous Twilight-style shot—laying in the grass, golden hour behind us. One of those unplanned moments that ends up stealing the show.
